Lessons Learned
The use of the dual-duct system at Wausau West HS demonstrates to both the designers and the owners that new technology is not always the answer. Working with existing proven technologies, using each efficiency and intregrating these efficiencies in a total concept results in high efficiency and large energy savings. Though untried in the school environment when it was first addressed to the administration, in 1998 this concept has proven to be very successful and being introduced into new school construction in various locations in the mid-west and the atlantic coast of the United States,
Full benefit of improvements to the HVAC system and the lighting is not achieved until the completion of each.
